Supported by an endowment established by ISU Professor of English, Jane Bakerman, the Bakerman Student Research award recognizes excellence in course-submitted research papers that both incorporate extraordinary skill & creativity in the utilization of the services, resources, and collections of the ISU Library and demonstrate the use of information literacy research skills.

Winning undergraduate and graduate papers will incorporate research and analytical skills in developing a research strategy, locating and using appropriate resources, citing sources in the proper format, and developing a substantive paper using resources available through the ISU Library.

Submitted papers will already have been completed and submitted for a course grade in the previous calendar year. The professor of that course provides support for the award with a letter of nomination that outlines how well and in what manner the paper fulfills the evaluation criteria.

The winning undergraduate author will receive an award of $1000.00, and the winning graduate author will receive $1500.00. Faculty members nominating the winning papers will receive an award of $250.00.

All materials are due by 2:00 pm on Friday, January 18, 2013. Required materials should be emailed to Christi.Reinig@indstate.edu. Late materials will not be accepted.

The application package can be assembled and submitted at any time during the eligible semesters, and up until the final deadline.
