Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787, recognizing all who are born in the U.S. or by naturalization, have become citizens.

ROBERT BEN-ZION VAN SICKEL

Professor Robert Ben-Zion Van Sickel (Ph.D. University of California, Santa Barbara, 1995) has taught at Indiana State University since 2002. Dr. Van Sickel’s research and teaching interests include Western political thought, American civil rights, the United States Supreme Court, and American political culture.

He is the author of Tabloid Justice: Criminal Justice in an Age of Media Frenzy (2007) and the Jurisprudence of Sandra Day O’Connor (1998), as well as a number of articles and papers analyzing various aspects of the Supreme Court, mass media and politics, and American political culture. At ISU, Dr. Van Sickel teaches courses such as Law and American Society (PSCI 419), Civil Rights and Liberties (PSCI 418), Western Political Thought (PSCI 319), the Judicial Process (PSCI 308), Mass Media and Politics (PSCI 400), Film and Politics (PSCI 400), and American Political Thought (PSCI 309).
