New LibGuides [library/research guides]

A new LibGuide has been created on Poverty, Hunger, and Homelessness, for two courses being taught by Professor Linda Maule, PSCI 107 and GH 101. Take a look: http://libguides.indstate.edu/poverty. Reference/Instruction Librarian Marsha Miller and Professor Maule have worked together on this course/theme for several years, and even did a national presentation on the experience at a 2007 CUMU conference in Baltimore. Now, instead of the resources being locked away in Blackboard, they can be accessed by anyone who searches the LibGuides. A special feature of this guide is an emphasis on finding statistical sources.

Another LibGuide was recently created by Reference/Instruction Librarian, Jake Eubanks, to support SGA-sponsored “Celebrating Diversity” week [November 2-6]. See http://libguides.indstate.edu/Religion , created in support of “Religious Pluralism in the U.S. Context.”

Turnitin Unavailable Saturday

Reposted from ISU http://www.indstate.edu/news/isutoday.php?articleid=3118: Turnitin will be unavailable to ISU faculty and students between 1 and 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, for a system upgrade. Following the outage, a new “Turnitin 2” service will be available. We have been told overall functionality and compatibility with Blackboard will not be affected, but the new version of Turnitin will look a bit different from the current version. (For a sneak preview, see http://www.turnitin.com/static/what_is_new.html.)
If instructors have an assignment due during the outage time, Turnitin recommends the due date be changed.
If you have questions or problems, please contact Steve Hardin at Steve.Hardin@indstate.edu or at 237-7685.
