Open Educational Resources Workshop (OER)

Tuesday, September 25th from 2-3 p.m. in the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence

Are you looking for a new textbook? Is your current textbook not addressing everything you would like? Do you have trouble even finding a textbook? If so, Open Educational Resources (OERs) might be a good option for your classroom.  OERs are learning materials available for free online, and ISU has a program to help you find them, evaluate them, and implement them in your course.  Come to this quick session to learn more.  All instructors welcome.  A stipend will be available to qualifying instructors for participating in the program.  Light refreshments will be served.  An RSVP is appreciated (Melissa.Gustafson@indstate.edu) but not required.  Melissa Gustafson, Electronic Resources Librarian,  will be the facilitator.

Heather Rayl helping lead the ISU OER charge

Emerging Technologies librarian Heather Rayl has had a busy summer, helping a Communication Department team convert the Comm 101 textbook into an Open Education Resource text.

She also maintains a guide to OER information at  Open Educational Resources.

As more faculty become aware of the OER movement, workshops are being provided to spread the info.

The next workshop will be held Tuesday September 20, 2016 in the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence, Library room 103, 3-4pm.
