Terre Haute Ind. Sunday April 10th 1881
The meeting was called to order at the usual hour. Worthy Brother Ebbage, on motion of Brother Debs, was called to the chair and presided throughout the meeting.
The roll of members was first called after which the minutes of the four preceding meetings were read and approved. Patrick Daley & James Robinson two candidates were reported in waiting and on motion of Brother Debs the rules were suspended and the Committee on the investigation of Mr. Robinson submitted its report. The report was favorable and the Lodge proceeded to ballot for the candidate. The ballot being clear he was declared elected. Messrs. Patrick Daley and James Robinson were then admitted to full membership in the Order.
The Relief Committee submitted its report on the petition of Thomas Grace for benefits and on motion of Brother Debs Brother Grace was allowed benefits of the amount of $500.
The Committee on the investigation of Charles Hunt reported favorably and the report was accepted & the committee discharged.
The candidate was then balloted for and duly elected.
The withdrawal card of J. D. White was presented and after a long debate was rejected by a vote of 20 to 4.
A bill of $405 in favor of D. H. Wright for the photograph of John Brake was read and allowed.
On motion the Treasurer of the Lodge was exempted from the payment of Grand and Subordinate Lodge dues as long as he acted as Assistant Financial Secretary.
A general circular from the Grand Lodge containing the issue of Death Claims was read. The said claims were Nos 29 - 30 & 31 and were endorsed paid on a basis of $1600 each.
A bill of hall rent for the quarter ending April 1st 1881 was read and allowed.
The application of J. N. Leary for membership, dated July 25th 1880 was declared forfeited by the chair.
The meeting then adjourned.
