ACTIVE SHOOTERS ON CAMPUS:CRITICAL STRATEGIES FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS & SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS This resource guide was developed to support a June 5, 2007 Indiana state-wide conference. It will assist you in locating ISU Library materials including books, videos, and online articles, as well as pertinent web sites. It is a collaborative effort of the ISU Library and the sponsors of the event, the Department of Physical Education and the ISU Department of Public Safety. In addition to, and separate from, this special conference, a two-day training session was held June 11/12 at the Ivy Tech Community College Terre Haute campus, Active Shooter in Public Schools and Public Places. This course is offered through the Public Agency Training Council, conducted by Captain Perry Hollowell. We intend to keep this site active by adding links of interest on a regular basis.
Note: Non-ISU visitors may access the ISU materials while they are on campus by coming to the ISU Library and using
the public computers -- you can e-mail articles to your e-mail accounts. Residents of the state of Indiana can check
out ISU Library books by presenting proof of residency. Many of the article databases will be available to you at your
local public libraries, or you can access the
INSPIRE databases, available to all Indiana residents. Due to various open-source
projects, a growing number of scholarly articles are available to you on the 'free' net, but most will require an affiliation
with a local library and the use of interlibrary loan to get copies of the articles. As part of their community service mission,
the Reference/Instruction Librarians at Indiana State University will be glad to help you identify materials and advise
you as to the best method for getting to them. Please utilize the 'Ask a Librarian' or the 'Reference
Chat' drop-down links above. Librarians at your
local Indiana public libraries will also be glad to assist you.
