ISU Library Bookmarklets

Bookmarklets are bookmarks that include added JavaScript, which allows them to perform specific functions in addition to linking to a particular website. The bookmarklets listed on this page will allow you to search ISU Library resources in various ways.

Installation instructions: To put a bookmarklet on your computer, point at any of the three blue bookmarklet links below, press down (right) mouse button and choose "Add to Favorites". A message box will question the safety of this procedure. Just say that you want to continue. The bookmarklet has now been installed and will always be available from your favorites list. Note: Just clicking on the below links won't work. You must add the link to your favorites list.

ISU Library Lookup: E-journal search
To use this bookmarklet: Just highlight a journal title found on any web page and click on the bookmarklet link. The ISU Library's E-Journal List will automatically be searched for that title. Now you can quickly check to see if the library has full-text electronic access to any journal title, no matter what web page you happen to be on.

ISU Library Catalog Lookup: Title search
To use this bookmarklet: Just highlight a book title found on any web page and click on the bookmarklet link. The ISU Library catalog will automatically be searched for that title. Note: Leave out the words The, An or A if they begin a book title.

ISU Library Catalog Lookup: ISBN search
To use this bookmarklet: Search in a book-related site (such as Amazon or Barnes & Noble), go to the web page for an individual book and click on the bookmarklet link. The ISU Library catalog will automatically be searched for that book's ISBN in a new window. Note: The ISBN must match exactly. If the library owns the hardcover and the bookmarklet is searching for the paperback ISBN, your search will not bring up that title. This bookmarklet was created by Jon Udell.
