Printing & Copying in the Library
The Library has two different printing systems in place:
- ISU Student Allotment Printing: Printing from a student's Technology Fee. Step-by-step Student Printing Directions
- ISU Faculty, Support Staff, and Guest Printing: At a cost of 10 cents per page Step-by-step Pay Printing Directions
Student Printing:
By logging into their Novell account at the beginning of a computing session, students can print from
their allotment on any floor in the Library. Whichever floor the computer is located is the floor
their job will be sent to be printed. A Student Allotment Printer is located on each floor near the public
computer stations.
Faculty, Staff, & Guest Printing:
Printing is available for 10 cents a page at the printer/copier station on the first floor. The computer station
is used to find your print job and send it to the printer, while the card reader is used to pay for your print jobs.
All "for pay" print jobs from any Library Public PC is sent to this printer only.
Copying:
There is a copier on the 1st floor. Copies are 10 cents per page for all Library patrons and must be paid for using a card.
Paying For Copying & Printing:
All copying and any printing (with the exception of Student Allotment Printing) must be paid for
with a card. The cost for copies & printing is 10 cents per page. The vending towers next to the printer/copiers
do not accept money.
Payment is by card and can be by any one of the following:
- Sycamore ID Card & Old Guest Vending Card: Value is added to these cards
via the 'Cash to Card' machines. There are two 'Cash to Card' machines in the Library, one on the first floor next to the change machine, and the
other on the second floor in the TMC area.
- Equitrac Copycard: These cards are both purchased from and revalued in the Equitrac station near the first floor change machine. New cards
cost $1 and do not have any starting value on them. Patrons must then put a dollar value on the card using the Equitrac station.
Maximum value that may be placed on a card is $20. Note: Once money is put into the Equitrac station, that value must be placed on the
card, no change is given from these machines. The Library will not give refunds for unintended money being put in the card station.
Any excess value must be put on an Equitrac Copycard or that dollar value will be lost!
Alternatives to Printing:
- Use Email to send yourself copies of Library Catalog screens using commands built into the Online Catalog, attach your
Microsoft Office documents, or send copies of full-text articles from many of the Library databases. Students can use their My ISU email
account or other email services.
- ISU Students, Faculty, and Staff also have the option of using their network space to save documents. They must be logged into Novell using
their ID and password.
Refunds:
- The Library cannot give refunds for failed Student Allotment print jobs. The student must go to the Student Computing
Center to pursue reinstatement of debits to his/her allotment.
- The Library cannot give refunds to patrons who put more money in the Equitrac Copycard machine than they intended to put on a
card. The value must go on the Copycard or excess value will be lost. The Controller’s office is responsible for money lost in the Equitrac
Copycard machine.
