Introduction

What are search tools?

A search tool is a tool you use to find information. There are three main types of search tools used at ISU, all serving different purposes:

  1. the catalog;
  2. indexes and abstracts (databases); and
  3. Web search engines.

After completing this tutorial, you will know when to use each of these tools.

Enjoy.
