- Web of Science is made up of 3 different indexing databases: Arts & Humanities Citation
Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Science Citation Index Expanded.

You can search each database individually or collectively.

If you know what discipline your topic falls under, search the particular database that covers that discipline.

Web of Science is not a full-text database.

Web of Science only indexes scholarly journals.

The General Search searches for articles about a topic and/or written by a particular author(s).

The Cited Ref Search searches for articles and/or authors others have cited in their works. The Cited Ref
Search also searches for books and/or authors of books that others have cited in their works.
