The Director of Facilities and Finance:  This position reports to the Dean of the Library. Responsible for day-to-day library operations. Assists in planning, initiation, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of building and facilities issues including repairs and upgrades. Analyzes and accounts for transactions and reconciles the Library’s operating budgets, as well as auxiliary accounts, grants and Foundation Accounts.

SALARY: $52,474.50 – $59,260.50 annually

Reports to the Dean of the Library of Library Services. Responsible for day-to-day library operations. Assists in planning, initiation, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of building and facilities issues including repairs and upgrades. Analyzes and accounts for transactions and reconciles the Library’s operating budgets, as well as auxiliary accounts, grants and Foundation Accounts.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Serves as library building operations and physical facilities director, ensuring day-to-day operations, services, and environment are meeting university standards and goals.
  2. Monitors and recommends solutions for issues involving the building and physical facilities and security. Works closely with Administrative Department members who have facilities responsibilities.
  3. Prepares library budget reports and other reports, including the library’s annual report reports in consultation with and as requested by the Dean of the Library. Upon request, provide budget data to Controller’s Office and Academic Affairs.
  4. Monitors Library grants under the direction of the Dean.
  5. Updates the library’s Emergency & Security Guidelines manual and the CML Emergency Response Plan

PT Temporary Art Collection Assistant


The Permanent Art Collection (PAC) Assistant will be responsible for the maintenance and display of the artwork around campus. They will install and de-install artwork in campus buildings and the public artwork on campus grounds. They will use professional art handling procedures to move, inventory, audit, conserve, clean, exhibit, frame, document, and other actives involving artwork and artwork storage areas. They will help to maintain inventory, condition, and loan reports. They will assist various campus employees, researchers, and vendors access the art collection while maintaining its safety and security, ensuring its accessibility into the future. They will perform these duties in assistance to the Curator and be solely responsible in their performance in the curator’s absence.  They will also perform other departmental duties as required.

Library Resource Sharing Associate & Copy Cataloger – Assists in all phases of the Interlibrary Loan Unit and Special Collections. Includes

  • use of specialized software,
  • customer service, billing,
  • manual searches of the library collection, and
  • use of standard office equipment including scanners and fax machine.
  • Responsible for the appropriate sorting, distribution, and packaging of all Interlibrary Loan and Statewide Remote Circulation System incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Implements and maintains procedures and policies.
  • Ensures quality library services and resolves related problems.
  • Serves as the Resource Sharing Associate and Copy Cataloger and participates in the supervision of student assistants.

Participates in goal setting and planning objectives. Possesses good interpersonal skills, including tact, courtesy and civility in accordance with the Library’s mission, vision and values. Position requires a working knowledge of: ILLiad, Sierra, OCLC, ALA ILL Code, lending policies of other libraries, copyright laws, billing management software and Microsoft Office programs.

Permanent Art Collection Curator: Ian Carey  accepted the position of the Permanent Art Curator with a start date of March 1

Most recently Ian has been Exhibitions Preparator, Chicago History Museum. He has degrees from Illinois State University {Master of Fine Arts}; School of the Art Institute of Chicago {BFA}; and the University of Illinois {B. Liberal Arts and Sciences in Anthropology and Political Science}. He has lectured at Humboldt State University, Illinois State University, and Illinois Wesleyan University {Bloomington}. His most recent solo exhibition: Jungle Gym, Greg Hardwick Gallery, Columbia College, Columbia, MO.

Permanent Art Collection Curator – Responsible for the stewardship, documentation, research, development and care of Indiana State University’s permanent art collection, primarily comprised of prints, ceramics and paintings. This work includes providing access to the collection through on-campus venues, the maintenance of the catalog, safe storage of works, condition reporting and prioritization of conservation needs. The incumbent will ensure focused growth of the collection through strategic acquisitions and will identify objects for deaccession that do not meet the standards of the collection. In addition, the Curator will interact with the Department of Art and Design faculty to foster experiential professional learning opportunities for students; and collaborate with the Gallery Director to plan, install and publicize exhibitions of art pieces from the permanent collection. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to establish relationships with both internal and external constituencies including donors, collectors and artists; as well as a strong commitment to collaboration.

Other duties include grant writing and budget oversight, consulting and working with conservators, external communications and attending art committees as needed.
