Examples of such materials are the papers of Ross Lockridge, Director of the Indiana Federal Writers' Project (1936-1938); Gilbert Coble's journals and his correspondence with Jesse Stuart; Warren N. Cordell's papers on book collecting and lexicography; Mitford Mathews's personal papers and various writings on language and lexicography, particularly American regional English; Fredrick Bunce's research materials on Aretino and related material; and Civil War correspondence, including George Gegner's letters to his future wife, Lizzie Wayman (temporarily in PDF format); and Clyde Fitch's plays as performed in bound typescripts. Additionally, some manuscripts are contained in cataloged items.

It it is the permanent home of The Mystery Fancier, published in Madison, Indiana and the Archives of the National Kindergarten Association.
